Cost of college went up for all students at Saint Cloud State University

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.4 percent for 2018-19 at Saint Cloud State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Minnesota residents paid $8,265 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $37 more than the $8,228 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 99.6 percent more than residents this year, or $16,499. Their price tag grew 0.2 percent from $16,462 in 2017-18.

About 82 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Minnesota residents. About 13 percent are residents of other states and 5 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 86 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,061 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.9 million and 896 students took out student loans totaling more than $7.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (13,928), 6,359 students used grants or scholarships totaling $34.6 million, and 5,418 students took out $36.2 million in federal student loans.
