City of Big Lake issued the following announcement on May 7.
Please note that due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be UNABLE to collect mattresses and box springs for recycling. Please contact your waste hauler for options to properly dispose of these items.
The City of Big Lake, Big Lake Township, and Orrock Township jointly host an annual Recycling Day Event. The event is held on the third Saturday each May from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Big Lake Township Maintenance Facility located at 20150 166th Street, Big Lake, MN 55309.
The event is organized by a private vendor. Metro Appliance Recycling is a recycling business located in Otsego, Minnesota and they have substantial experience in running these types of recycling events. Questions? Call Metro Appliance Recycling at 763-241-8787 or Town of Big Lake at 763-263-8111.
Purpose
The intent of this annual event is to offer a centralized location for citizens to bring recyclable materials. In past years, some citizens were allowed to bring "garbage" to the collection site. Any costs for the collection of garbage at this event will be the responsibility of the person bringing the items.
