Many Minnesota employers recognize the inherent value in hiring military veterans, a state Veterans Affairs official said ahead of this week's Veterans Virtual Career Fair.
"We want to thank all the great Minnesota employers who acknowledge the unique value those who serve or served in the military bring to their organization’s team," Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) Commissioner Larry Herke said in a Nov. 9 announcement about the career fair. "Military service not only provides high-tech training and real-world experience, it also builds character skills like integrity, leadership, teamwork and commitment to getting the job done right. Hiring a veteran is a great decision for an organization’s success."
The MDVA and Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development are encouraging veterans and employers to participate in this year’s 14th annual Veterans Career Fair, scheduled online from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19.
Employers participating in the virtual event "are encouraged to offer full-time positions with family-sustaining wages and benefits," the announcement said.
Registration is required for the virtual event, which is open to U.S. military veterans, active service members, and their spouses.
