Lisa Demuth, a Minnesota state legislator and current House Minority Leader, announced her candidacy for governor in a series of social media posts on November 3, 2025.
In her initial announcement, Demuth wrote, "Minnesota is worth fighting for — that's why I'm announcing today that I'm running for Governor." (posted on November 3, 2025). Later the same day, she signaled the start of her campaign with another post: "The campaign is officially underway!

Demuth provided an update after launching her campaign in Saint Paul and traveling across Southern Minnesota. She stated, "Started today with our kickoff press conference in Saint Paul, and had a wonderful time traveling across Southern Minnesota for our first official events of the campaign.
Minnesota is ready to turn the page and fire Tim Walz!" (posted on November 3, 2025).
Lisa Demuth has served as House Minority Leader since January 2023. The current governor of Minnesota is Tim Walz, who has been in office since January 2019. In recent election cycles, gubernatorial races in Minnesota have drawn significant attention due to closely contested campaigns.
