State Representative Paul Novotny (R–Elk River) has issued a statement following a decision by the Ramsey County District Court, which struck down a provision in the 2024 omnibus bill. The court found that the legislation violated the Minnesota Constitution’s “single subject” clause.

The court's decision resulted in a permanent injunction against enforcement of the firearm-related provision, concluding that it was not relevant to the rest of the bill and had been enacted in violation of Article IV, Section 17 of the state constitution.
