State Representative Paul Novotny, a Republican from Elk River, has called on Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison to take action against individuals connected to the Feeding Our Future fraud who have not been charged by federal authorities.
Novotny’s request follows a June 11, 2025 Star Tribune report that found hundreds of people had ties to the Feeding Our Future scheme but many may avoid prosecution due to limited federal resources. The report noted that while 72 people have been charged so far, many others remain uncharged. More information about the Star Tribune report can be found at https://www.startribune.com/feeding-our-future-fraud-hundreds-involved-minnesota-fbi-prosecution/600375310/.
In his letter to Ellison, Novotny listed four actions for the attorney general: “Open criminal investigations into all uncharged individuals and organizations that received suspicious reimbursements. Prosecute offenders under state fraud and theft laws if federal authorities will not. Publicly disclose a plan to hold wrongdoers accountable, with clear timelines and updates. Work transparently with the Legislature to ensure justice is being served.”
