City Of Elk River issued the following announcement on Nov. 24.
The Elk River City Council met for their regular meeting on Monday, November 21.
On the Consent Agenda, they approved resolutions to levy special assessments for unpaid garbage, sewer and storm water utility services on behalf of the city and levied special assessments for unpaid water and electric utility services on behalf of Elk River Municipal Utilities. They hired Police Officers Patrick Bendel and Bailey Roscoe and approved the purchase of replacement Park Maintenance Fund Equipment.
Under Presentations, Awards, and Recognition, Mayor Dietz recognized Michele Smith as November's Volunteer of the Month. City Attorney Peter Beck was recognized for his 40+ years of service to Elk River as he enters retirement. Lastly, Mayor Dietz swore in nine new paid on call firefighters who have completed their training and probation.
Public hearings were opened to consider Conditional Use Permits for Lund Recreational Storage and Gate City Bank, both of which were approved. The Council also reviewed the 2023 City Master Fee Schedule. A public hearing will be opened on December 5.
In General Business, the Council discussed and directed staff to proceed with a grant application through the State of Minnesota Corridors of Commerce Program for two grade separated interchanges on Highway 10 near 168th Ave and Adams St. along with frontage and backage road improvements.
The Work Session consisted of a review of the 2023 Multipurpose Facility Budget. The budget will be approved on December 5 along with the other city budgets.
The next City Council regular meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Monday, December 5.
