City Of Elk River issued the following announcement on Sep. 08.

The Elk River City Council met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, September 6. 

On the Consent Agenda, they hired Timothy DeBiaso for the vacant facilities maintenance technician, Starr Sorheim to fill the senior communications coordinator position, and Jeffrey Shelby for the assistant facility supervisor position. They also accepted the donation of a pellet grill/smoker on behalf of the fire department. Two public hearings were held. An administrative subdivision by simple plat for Beaudry Elk River was opened and continued to the next meeting and an easement vacation and platted exemption was approved for William Zacharda and Virginia Bloomdahl at 13569 Ranch Road.

In General Business, the council adopted the Orono Lake Improvement District Annual Service and Activities Charge Request, set the public comment budget meeting for 6:30 p.m., December 5, 2022, and adopted the General Fund preliminary tax levy, HRA and EDA budgets, and tax levies for 2023. They discussed and approved a 60-day Hemp THC sale moratorium that excludes existing businesses currently selling.

During their Work Session, they discussed and outlined items for inclusion in the final Intoxicating Hemp THC License Ordinance.
