CITY PLANNER: OPENING

The City of Melrose, MN is seeking applications for a City Planner. This position reports directly to the City Administrator and performs professional planning functions and assists in community development functions for the orderly development, redevelopment, and growth of the city.

The ideal candidate will be energetic and motivated, and possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.  Candidates will need to utilize critical thinking skills and have the ability to deal with a wide variety of issues that come up in the day to day work environment.  Candidates should be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently or as part of a team.  Candidate must be able to work closely and professionally with residents and property owners. Some evening meeting attendance required.

Experience and Education: Minimum qualifications - Associates/Technical degree and considerable experience working with community development and planning and zoning, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  ArcView GIS is highly desired.  Knowledge in field of Economic Development a plus.  Desired by not required - Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in planning, urban studies, real estate development, construction trades or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Salary Range depending on qualification: $61,299 -$72,975 per year.  Benefit include but not limited to:  Paid vacation, sick leave, paid health insurance, paid life insurance, long term disability, etc.
