With seating capacities and other restrictions impacting the restaurant industry, it is becoming difficult for restaurant owners to make ends meet.
Not only are restaurant owners affected, but also their employees. As owners slash hours, over 100,000 Minnesota restaurant employees from 8,500 restaurants across the state find themselves in an uncertain situation.
An unlikely hero for some of these restaurants has been to offer takeout options to their customers. However, revenue is still on the downward trend. To help restaurant owners, state officials from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) are encouraging Minnesota residents to order takeout from their neighborhood restaurants.
“The best way to help your local restaurants weather this time is by ordering takeout whenever you can. They need our support now more than ever," DEED Commissioner Steve Grove said in a press release.
Restaurants are one of the backbones of the Minnesota economy, employing over 100,000 people.
