The annual Veterans Career Fair has been reimagined into two virtual veterans events this month due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the state's DEED Developments Blog.
The Veterans' Virtual Resource Fair was held on July 16. The fair provided information about resources, services and benefits through several agencies that provide assistance to veterans.
The Veterans Virtual Career Fair will be held Thursday, July 23. The event will feature Yellow Ribbon employers who are looking to hire now. At their virtual booths, participants will be able to ask questions and make connections with employer representatives.
Some of the employers scheduled to appear include Ameriprise Financial, Metropolitan Council, Grand Casinos, Xcel Energy, Medica, U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, Marvin, Minnesota Department of Transportation and Minnesota Department of Corrections.
Registration is required to participate. All that's needed is an internet connection and the ability to stream video and audio. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Shannon Sprouse.
July is Hire a Veteran Month, named so by Gov. Tim Walz to acknowledge the skills and abilities veterans bring to the workforce and to encourage Minnesota employers to hire veterans.
