City of Belgrade issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.
To all Belgrade City Water and Sewer Residents, Business owners and managers:
This letter is to notify you of the increases to the water, sewer and test fees for 2020. These increases will take effect on January 1, 2020. The current rate for water is $7 for the base rate, plus 4.60 per thousand used. Sewer is at $13 base rate, plus 4.50 per thousand used.
The water rates will be $7 for the base, and increase to 4.80 per thousand used, and sewer rates will be $13 for the base rate and increase to 4.75 per thousand used.
The drinking water test fee is currently at 0.53 cents and will increase to 0.81 cents. This increase is from the Minnesota Department of Health, Drinking Water Protection Section. The fee amount has not changed since 2005. The revenue from this fee is used to fund activities of MDH’s Drinking Water Protection Program related to maintaining compliance with the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and protecting the health of all Minnesotans. These activities include sanitary surveys, sample collection and analysis, compliance determination, source water protection, enforcement and various technical assistance services.
