Melrose Public School District students performance on MCA and MTAS in 2021-22 school year?

Melrose Public School District ranked fifth in the Stearns County for test participation, with 695 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Melrose Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 4.7% over the previous year.

Melrose Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 48% in 2021-22 school year.

Fifth grade students stood out with 19% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, fourth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 36% not meeting the expected standards.

Melrose Public School District encompasses schools within Stearns County and has a main office in Melrose.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
